Leave Them All Behind 2

Various Artists/mixed by Thee Bang Gang Deejays, Modular

The only problem with this super-cool two-disc indie compilation is that it's so desperately cool, anyone actually cool will be over it already. The Gossip? Love is All? CSS? When bands like these are loaded with the level of urgent praise they've shouldered, it's only a matter of time before they're yesterday's news. Here they're joined by the likes of Peter Bjorn and John, New Young Pony Club and Wolfmother, all remixed by that bunch of drug-riddled fools named Thee Bang Gang. Hold on, hold on, that's how they describe themselves in the liner notes. Perhaps they're being ironic. Perhaps they're also being ironic when they state that their intention was to produce "what we hope is a 'cool' indie-dance record". Because taken at face value, that statement is utterly uncool. Or is it really cool? I can't even tell anymore.

Key track: Cansei de Ser Sexy's Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above - the sort of track that can effortlessly get a dance floor jumping.
